Two hearing aids

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need two hearing aids?

A. Research supports a binaural (two ear fitting) when the hearing loss is symmetrical, which is most commonly the case. There is a great benefit to wearing two devices. Typically, wearing two instruments will allow you to be able to understand speech better in more environments.

Q. How do I know what technology is right for me?

A. Determining which device is right for you is twofold. First we must assess the level of existing hearing loss, then we will factor in your personal preferences. Your lifestyle and environments you are normally in can help determine the exact level of technology you will need.

Q. How often should I get my hearing tested?

A. Just like an eye exam, we recommend that patients get a hearing evaluation once a year. For patients we have already fit with hearing devices, we recommend an appointment every three months for cleanings and adjustments. This can significantly increase the life of a hearing aid.

Q. Can I clean my device at home?

A. Yes, you can clean your devices with a soft dry toothbrush. Never use soap or water. You should also schedule to have your devices professionally cleaned and checked every three months.
